News: Easy Cherry Cobbler How-To

Easy Cherry Cobbler How-To

Being from the south I am partial to cobbler, especially peach cobbler. However I had some cherries on hand that needed to be used before they went bad so decided to give this a try. The end result was a sweet decadent dessert with just the right amount of tartness. Was great served warm with vanilla ice cream but just as good the next day cold.

What you will need:

2 1/2 cups cherries (I used fresh, sweetened with 1-2 cups sugar)

1 cup flour

1 cups sugar

1/2 tsp. salt

2 tsp. baking powder

1 cup milk

1/2 cup butter

Directions:

Preheat the oven to 375*. Melt the butter in the microwave. In a separate bowl combine sugar, flour, salt, baking powder, and milk. Pour the batter into a 9x13 pan, then pour the melted butter over the batter. Then spoon the cherries over the batter. Bake at 375* for about 45 minutes.

This simple yet yummy dessert did not last long in my house at all. I think the kiddo enjoyed it more than I did, and that is saying something. If it received rave reviews from a picky 5 year old eater you know it's a keeper. I think this just might replace my current fave of peach cobbler in our house.

Although it is perfect as is you could also exchange the type of fruit used. You could definitely use peaches, or blackberries, or even strawberries. Oh I think I know my next go at this recipes. Gotta run and get some strawberries.  :D

If you try it let me know how it comes out and what type of fruit you used. Happy eating!
